Over all frame/vision for rebuilding time:

Keep true to the mission statement of cultural heritage and environmentally awareness.

           This means:

• Use older recycled materials wherever possible, particularly where it is visible. Best if there is a seamless integration of look and feel between the new additions and the existing structures.
• Keep an environmental awareness to all construction – look to future vision even if we are not able to complete it in the moment. example; out fit pluming so that solar heat could be added later…
• Use environmentally friendly materials as much as possible.
• Use modern building practices to make things strong and to last, but give the outside appearance to look integrated to older style.

Planned projects for infrastructure

• Convert attic of central house to sleeping space. One big space with window on both ends for now until dormers can be afforded. Stairs to go up und of the building on driveway side. (look to loose bricks  on roof )
• Extend roof of outdoor kitchen from crown of existing roof to width of existing concrete pad of “meditation space”.
• Extend concrete pad of “meditation space” at least 4-5 times its current size, with tiled roof and extension of wall along the street and at the other end, leaving the side open to the inside of property. To be used for sleeping, meetings and circles when raining, or additional dining and workshop spaces…
• Build roof for the “smoking area” over the area with the well and sink, also to cover stairs going up to new attic space of central house.
• Recover all materials possible for use in construction from the silent house property. Particularly old wood, roof tiles and bricks.
• Build working baking oven in traditional design using materials.

Additional if possible with little money needed…

• Clean out and provide floor, and windows, (even if temporary), for the future dining room across from outdoor kitchen.
• Convert attic space of same building for sleeping area, including some kind of staircase…
• Make repairs to all roofs where needed
• Build better counters, shelving, and cupboards for out door kitchen.
• Create beautiful and practical patio surface for smoking area.
• Create Coffee prep area there that is functional and independent – replace drain system in sink.

Planned additional activities for summer

• Morning circle dances
• Morning meditation
• Language class
• Evening fires w/ music, stories, games etc…
• Talent shows with each group
• Fresh bread baking
• “Peace Table” – food from everybody’s countries?
• Vegetable and flower garden
• Sunday excursions and rest days
• Weekend workshops – here and there

Brief Explanation of Each Structures Function

Main House
Contains the office, computer room, small meeting space or sleeping room, one toilet/shower, and with renovation will sleep up to 20 people in loft area.

Outdoor Kitchen/Dining Room
Serves as only dining and cooking area, with covered area for wood and supplies.
With renovation will also sleep up to 20 people in loft.

Stable House
Contains one area converted with two toilets, two showers, one sink and a washing machine, still needing additional work. There is also a documentation/activity room containing our library of books, educational materials, and games. There is also a storage room, and a small single room for staff sleeping. There will be additional storage in the loft area after the renovation. This older mud brick structure will not support a second story for living space.

Indoor Kitchen/Dining Room
This will provide us with a kitchen/dining area complete with toilets and showers, and sleeping area above in the loft for year around operation. The dining room will also function as a meeting space and activity/multi purpose room.

Please note

We are hoping to acquire the necessary funding to complete all our needs, but in the event of partial funding, the new construction of the indoor dining and kitchen structure can be postponed. The renovations to existing structures will give us a strong base for continuing in the months not consumed by severe winter.
